1:30 pm here on Monday; Sophie is taking a nap at Sage's bedside. They are holding hands, resting on top of Sage's Peter Rabbit. An image of peace and love.
Not too many major shifts either way in the past 12 hours. Sage is off the blood pressure medicine, which we're happy about. Her white blood cell count has gone up a bit, which we're not too happy about. The wonderful team of respiratory therapists has been slowly and carefully lowering the ventilator in the direction we achieved on Saturday, and Sage is holding rock steady, with a good oxygen saturation level. So we're very, very happy about that. The goal is to try to wean her off the ventilator slowly and steadily. Small steps. Small steps in the right direction. "Small steps for small feet" is our motto here, as Sage is a size 5.
Especially in our thoughts today are Sage's brother, Nathan, and her Dad, Mark. We have all been talking about them, keeping them in our prayers too, as they are currently in Germany and have been unable to get over here. One can only imagine how difficult it must be for them to be so far away; and all of us, Sophie especially, ask each of you to think of them with love and send them strength and peace. They have been checking this blog very regularly, so post a comment to them too and let them know that they are not alone. Nathan, Mark, we love you and we miss you. We send kisses to Sage for you.

Sophie- I happened to ask Sage about this particular picture I few weeks ago, and the response I got was a smirk and "that was a good time". That's our girl. Our prayers are with Sage, and the entire family. Sending love and hope from Annapolis. Let us know if there is anything we can do here. Sage we love you!
