Day 21, 11 p.m. medical update

A short and concise report on the day's events, as Sage sleeps peacefully with Peter Rabbit resting on her belly, hand upon his soft ears.
After yesterday's activities, today was very much a quiet day of rest for Sage. She remained stable all day while her settings on the ventilator were reduced in small but progressive measure. Sage also tolerated the first day of having her sedative medications reduced - again in very small increments - but the fact that this has begun as part of her care management is a positive sign. She tolerated having a bath and sitting in 'the chair' position!
The results of the CT scan have not been reported formally, but the informal 'read' showed nothing of immediate concern that would warrant a change in the course of care.
Sage continues to move and show signs of response to stimuli; she opens her eyes, moves her left arm and makes a face when her nurse does something to her that she does not like! However, her right side is somewhat flaccid and she is exhibiting much less movement and ability on the right. Because of this,  Sage's doctors will most likely order a neurology consult tomorrow, so that a more complete assessment can be taken and this particular issue addressed.
Even though we are not out of the woods yet, we continue to be extremely thankful for the progress Sage has exhibited, for the remarkable care and attention she is given here at DHMC, and for the circle of love and healing that surrounds her both near and far. Please continue to keep Sage, her doctors, nurses and caregivers in your prayers and thoughts.
