Day 15, 1p.m. update

Good afternoon.
Sage had a decent night. Her heart rate and blood pressure remain steady, lactic acid is normal, and her WBC dropped even further in the direction of normalcy. She is off the anti-funghal medication. We remain without a positive focus of the infection anywhere.
The pneumothorax—our Moriarty—raised its ugly head at about 3a.m. this morning. It's presence, exactly where it had been, was confirmed shortly thereafter in an x-ray. The medical team did some brainstorming and they believe that this might be a positional problem. As one of the Respiratory Therapists described it, it's like trying to capture an air bubble in a fish tank: when you move the tank, the bubble moves. They discovered that by repositioning Sage so that she is more upright, the chest tube can get at the thing and drain it out. So that's what we're working on for today: Sage's posture in bed. More upright.
That means we need all you yoga people out there (you know who you are) to dedicate your practice today to Sage. Assume the position, take a deep breath, clear your lungs, and share it please with Sagie Bug.
Much much love to all of you from all of us up here, and many thanks.

  3. Dear Mark, Sophie & Nathan
Wishing you all inner strength as you continue to support Sage and monitor her progress. I met Sage at the farmhouse in France several years ago so remembering happy times they will return hopefully soon. Take care. Hugs from across the miles
